Interesting how many comments on “how much money” or “he’s out to make a buck”.
Well it is to be expected. You are the public face of an insane war and then you are the public face of criticizing that same war right as your book is due to be published. Seems rather obvious, no?

Question who’s going to buy the book? If you already know the story for the past 7 years why would you buy the book? It’s like buying old newspapers to read the headlines again! “duh” ~ yes he’ll make some money but nothing near a fortune and what it’s going to cost him financially for the next several years because of the book will eat up all the profits.
Considering he has received a six figure advance, I reckon his publishers figure quite a few people will buy it. I would hope you and I would procure it so we could know more about what we are talking about.

The only thing that Scott has done is to “validate” the left wing bloggers and the stories in the media over the past seven years. “Validate” he’s the only rightwing who steps forward and says “yes those things you already know ~ happened”.
Have you read the book?

He’s only a messenger who confirms that stories! Is that why everyone is upset with him? He's told you what you already knew!
Certainly not! Speaking for myself, it upsets me that he (and Colin Powell as well) knew of the insanity of this policy and yet chose to remain silent and help Bush wage war.
This was not smiling for some inane farm bill you know is a waste or a bridge to nowhere. This was helping to wage a war that has been catastrophic.
Diplomats in both the US and the UK resigned from their posts rather than collaborate on something they knew was wrong. Why did Scott McClellan not do likewise?THAT is the issue, NOT what he is actually saying, which is probably more or less true.
Bush has an overwhelming desire to be a GREAT PRESIDENT. He has achieved being a well remembered President but has fallen far short of being a great one.

Oh he'll be well remembered alright..but not for "good" things.

I know what you are getting at here and I can't say I disagree but I still haven't determined entirely how I feel about this.
The perceptions about his reasons for doing this seem to be leaning towards revenge, but I have to wonder how much of this is people who believed and wanted to believe in something and then came to the realization that what they placed their faith in was bunk. What would have the reaction have been if he did this while still in the employ of the Bush administration? How much of this was a realization after joining the gang and seeing first hand how it operated as opposed to an outsiders view?
