The individual athletes always lose when nations want to inject politics into the Olympics. I feel bad for the guy.

You took the sarcastic words right out of my mouth!!!

The world is a scary place and the idiot Pres of Iran makes me very afraid. Now with Putin going off....who knows what will happen. I sometimes dream that McCain will choose Lieberman for running mate (I don't want him because he's liberal though I love the guy) just to make those creeps heads explode. It would really, really **** them off. God, they make me sick.

He was not likely to win a medal.

If he lost to an Isreali, I could only speculate as to what could happen to his family.

He/ his handlers made a reasonable decision under the circumstances and he/they will be rewarded as a hero back in Iran.

Where is the difficulty in understanding his decision?

Ahh, the Olympic spirit and ideals alive and well. I'm wondering where all the Israel-bashers are, they are strangely silent on this thread.
