So there's the heated arguments! This research study shows this, this research shows that!

Non-smokers forget that Tobacco is an Herb, yes, H-E-R-B, with medicinal properties, and the day will come Tobacco will follow Marijuana, rediscovering its medicinal properties.
I always said the bad part of a cigarette was the paper, now it seems there is more to the story with added ingredients in the tobacco itself. I smoked for over 50 years , but never cigarettes. Just cigars and when it was “IN” in the 70s a pipe. I know there was inhaled smoke , had to be, however as a rule you do not inhale the smoke as in cigars compared to cigarettes, which was nothing more than a never ending reaction looking for a fix. Nervous habit and they did not smell well as did a good Cuban cigar , for sure!

I dont think there should be public property. If you have a verifiable claim of damages, a lawsuit is in order.

Do you think restaurants, bars, private businesses, etc. should determine their own policies on smoking?

Smokers, OTOH, believe only in their own addiction and their need to satiate it.

You remind me of the people who think abortion is ok because government has no business in the bedroom, as if laws don't extend into, or apply in, the bedroom, which, of course, they do. If someone abuses their spouse in their bedroom, and see if they can use the defense that "government has no business in the bedroom" successfully. Hint: that defense will, of course, and properly, FAIL because government DOES have business in your bedroom, living room, garage, front yard, back yard, attic and everywhere else. Laws properly apply Everywhere including the bedroom and places of business.

What is shocking and more than a bit depressing is that you can't see that plain and simple fact. Astounding!!!!
Smoking is ugly, nasty and potentially lethal to the user, but I know something worse

There already are properties some think are “ Public” for all the wrong reasons. Take the Post Office , it’s “ Public” ,only because it’s run by a branch of the Federal Government. It still is subject to profits and the lack there of, yet the Federal Government requires all retirement funds to be funded before the need for retirement. No where in Private business world does retirements have to be funded before needed. Even banks , who are private, yet must follow government rules for funding and reserves. The term “ public property” only means that which is used by the public without discrimination. If your private business attracts and or is holding itself out for anyone off the street, as an example , then it’s “ public “. Federal and State lands are owned by the People of the whole United States. The day to day operations of said properties can be under contract with private business

Really? So you're calling the Indians, Incas and all other ancient societies "filthy disgusting people"? Wow, what a great way to win friends and influence people.

Might I suggest some mental health visits to work on anger management?

I spend my winters in Vegas , so from time to time I have drove down the strip with the top down , just to be entertained by all the drunks on the crowded street. Drinking is far and away the most visible effect on all the three day fools who just flew in for free and ITS PARTY TIME ! I am sure smoking anything that will burn is part of the behavior however smoking is really not welcome in Nevada , so much is hidden , my guess. Sure the casinos are full of smokers , especially the local places off the Strip. If you live in Vegas area you have some very nice upscale places to party and gamble. We only go downtown for shows , in and out , and try not to spend any money there , it’s all a rip off!

There's many a smoker, with their disgusting, nasty habit that have outlived non-smokers who may have been killed in a car accident, had a massive heart attack or were victims of a natural catastrophe.
