Fred Phelps is a Christian who takes it upon himself to issue Fatwas on behalf of Allah. When Muslim clerics do the same thing, the right-wing vigilantes hijack all message boards, and with sneering sarcasm, call Islam the "Religion of Peace" but those same people leave Phelps alone and ignore him.
Most Americans think Phelps does not represent Christianity, but equally moronic and vicious Muslim clerics, when quoted on Fox News, ARE thought of as representing Islam. It is the usual USA double standard, which is the laughing stock of the rest of the world.
Is this the "God Hates ****" guy?
I saw that guy interviewed once (within the past year on a legit TV channel), and like him or not, he had his talking points down and delivered them well. I was surprised the media gave him the opportunity. If that would change his slogan, his views might get out more.
I tried to find a clip, but couldn't. I can't remember what show it was.
They represent the close-mindedness of many conservative christians. You know, the types that remove people's rights such as marriage, the ability to get an abortion without risk of death (infections, unsafe circumstances, etc), and so on.
When Conservative Christians attack the actions of a few gay people disrupting a church service, a comparison to make would be the few Christians who disrupt a funeral.

Yet liberal activists love to use the Westboro Baptist Church to represent all Christians. They have been so successful that many non-believers see these people as representing what conservative Christianity a.k.a. the Christian Taliban is about.
I, as a conservative Christian, am tired of being lumped into the same category as these hateful maniacs.
There is, has always been, and always will be hate cults that hide under the banner of certain religions.
I am also getting sick of the liberal lies about Christianity. Many people, especially some CD posters, are clueless as to what Christianity is all about.

I agree. Most people on this forum come from an intellectual background, so I believe they know they are spreading lies about Christianity but continue to do so because it supports their anti-Christian agenda. Convince the younger generation that all Christians are like Westboro and they will have a much easier time passing anti-Christian legislation.

Correction ... Fred Phelps is NOT a Christian as he is spreading a non-Christian message of hate.

If you dont want to be lumped into this then you should talk to people like Sally Kern and even many on this board..who claim to be Christian yet believe like they do. These people are turning people away from god. They are hypocrites.

Are you sure because even you have said you vote against Gays. Seems pretty hateful to me that someone would want to insert their religious views into our laws when America is not a Theocracy.
