Lamexican... We have a great discussion tonight with the 2 opposing views going back and forth. We haven't had any personal attacks until you came along. I welcome everyone's opinion until they start speaking that way. So just to let you know I will not be reading or responding to any of your posts.
You made the attack when you reverted to name calling, when you didn't even know what the word you were using means. I take great offense to the ignorant use of that word in order to gain an upper hand. I don't care if you don't respond , as long as every one else can read them I'm perfectly ok with that. If you want to have an honest discussion quit using nasty names that don't apply to make the opposing view look like something it's not.
I am not suggesting that all rich people evad taxes. However a previous poster mentioned that cracking down on the rich evading taxes as a source for paying for healthcare. But I do believe that some rich people do this yes.
The number that this represents is so minuscule it would be off the charts
Who are you calling a buffoon? If you had read any of the postings of folks who aren't on the UHC, you would see that we have raised some serious issues. I'd like some serious answers about these logistics before I begin forking over MORE tax dollars to fund a system that will bring questionable results. The only arguments I've heard favoring UHC are emotional appeals from folks who cannot afford (or were denied) medical insurance and that isn't enough for me to trust our government (democrat or republican) with MORE of my tax dollars! Keep in mind, I used to work for a public agency so I have firsthand experience with governmental inefficiency and bureaucratic ineptitude so forgive me if I'm not on the UHC bandwagon.
The ones that try to silence an opinion they don't like by misrepresenting it as socialism. As soon as I here that word used in such a dishonest way I can't keep my mouth shut.

"Nasty names"? What the hell are you talking about?

How do YOU define socialism then? Please educate us ...

No one is trying to "silence" anyone - the fact that there are differences of opinions will happen.
And, many will refer to the proposals as socialism is reasonable
One of the first changes that IMO will take place involves Tort Reform - capping Punitive (not compensatory) damages. This will have a tremendous impact on reducing Malpractice Insurance rates which will, in turn, reduce physicans overhead which will be passed along to the patient
What your suggestion about the outrageous cost of meds?
What your suggestion about the outrageous cost of meds?
"Outrageous" is subjective. Keep in mind that the companies that develop these medications have, often, spent years and 100's of millions of dollars, developing the meds. They have every right to re-coup their investments.
Also, remember that once a med goes generic - they can often be purchased at "outrageously" low rates - I get mine for $4.00 each / $10.00 for a 90 day supply.
