Sorry - you still did not answer the question - You said 50 million were UNHAPPY with THEIR INSURANCE. I asked for citations on that. You gave me info on those with NO INSURANCE.
If you check further, you will find clarity on the article - undocumented aliens make up some 15% of that number.
I DID answer your question - you just don't like my answer....
I am saying that people who are uninsured are unhappy in some way with insurance (either they can't afford it or it is too expensive)... That is a totally logical assumption... and I stand by it. You are really nit picking this time - is it so important to you that you win every minor point???
Why have you not provided any links to resources to backup your claims???
Where did you get the fact that millions are happy?
Where did you get the fact that 15% of the uninsured are illegal aliens?
The fact is Great Day - you can post every minute to this forum for the next several years - and you will not have any impact on the outcome of UHC in this country.
The majority of Americans are fed up with the cost of health care as it is structured today - and are disgraced that our country - the only super-power in the world - has so many uninsured...
We are going to have UHC in some form... it is inevitable... and I think it will eventually evolve into a single-payer, mandatory system... as it should be.
I think these are excellent solutions that need to be explored without jumping to government control of all healthcare. I think the bold part would address the challenges faced by those who cannot obtain health insurance due to preexisting conditions but need medical interventions for conditions such as cancer, diabetes, etc.
I think people with pre-existing conditions should be allowed to get any health insurance. This could happen with just a few law changes. I have asthma and what if I came up with a truly innovative idea to start a business, I would not be able to because I would not qualify for my own health insurance.
Another solution, start cracking down on all the illegals who are stealing social security numbers to receive Medicaid benefits. They are in this country [b]illegally, meaning broke the law[b] to get here. They don't have rights to benefits reserved for Americans and legal immigrants.
I also know that illegal immigrants receive free health care in this country. They can go to the emergency room for free yet I have to pay a 500 dollar emergency room bill.
To lower drug prices, we need to make generics more available. Generic drugs are just as effective. I can not buy my inhalers generic in this country but could buy them generic and much cheaper in Canada.

Well, you may be right.
But, I was asked, along with a number of others, by Members of Congress, to meet and come up with proposals regarding healthcare / health insurance. We met many times over the period of a year. Our report was submitted in Dec '08. We are meeting with those Members of Congress in April. I have posted some of the recommendations in this thread.
Perhaps you should review them - let me know what you think.
She and my brother in law both recently took on second jobs to try to pay for it. It doesn't seem right to me.
lamexican,
Ignore GD - he has no sympathy for people in your sister's position - he thinks she is getting a gift... you will never get thru to him on this issue...
Focus instead on writing your elected officials - at the state and federal level - and let them know that you want UHC - and that you will be following their voting records...
That will have FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR more impact on the direction of UHC than any amount of posting on this forum!!!

Fine - where can we find the recommendations??? And give us time to respond - most of us work and have families to take care of...
Fine... What good does that do me or the vast majority of the country who do NOT live in Arizona???
Sometimes your logic absolutely floors me...
One of the proposals that Congress with take up is to allow Insurance companies to sell their products across state lines - thereby enlarging the insurance pools - resulting in a reduction of premiums.
