More twisting of truth and propaganda. GM was in deep dooddo long before the current finacial failures and long before Obama was in office, so attacking Obama for their mess is an outright lie. Chrysler has been in and out of trouble several times, hence the MB merger years ago. One of the leading causes the automakers are in such straights these days is because when the price of gas went through the roof the automakers were not ready to sell the autos people demanded. The automakers made the best profits selling large gas guzzler SUV's to the fasion crazy public but forgot to take into account that tastes and needs change and just kept pluggin away even when they were shown it was a mistake, sort of like the morgage companies and banks. I know some of you HATE President Obama and really do not care if attacks are based on truth and facts just keep in mind that others will continue to counter propaganda with truth.

Default Auto dealership closings

1100 GM dealerships closing. Many more Chrysler dealerships closing.

Talk about the elephant in the room. I thought the Billions of dollars Obama dished out to these companies was supposed to prevent all this. Why is there no public outrage over this??!! Democrats are gonna have some serious CYA to get done before next election cycle.

What was it that did not make sense?

Wonder how many of these dealership owners and workers voted for Obama. Wonder what they think now?

That is a legimate question.

Can you imagine spending your lifetime building up your business to have the Feds close you down?

Obama's admin does not have a heavy hand in the restructuring of the auto industry?
This heavy hand had NO influence in what is going on with the dealerships?
Dealers who have worked their lives building their business are not in one quick swoop losing their livelihood?

GM, ......... plans to notify 1,000 to 1,500 dealers early next week that it will not renew their franchises, according to company officials. That group — which does not include dealers of brands slated for elimination or sale — represents the largest share of the 2,600 dealers GM told the Obama administration it would eliminate by the end of 2010. Which group is next?

The Feds have been playing fast and loose with the banking, car, and coal industries - forcing healthy banks to take bailout $$, coercing auto president to resign, the EPA has conducted questionable actions regarding CO2, etc.

EPA actions - in reference to the EPA declaring CO2 is a pollutant:

Sen. Barrasso "Yesterday I exposed a “smoking gun” White House memo to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). ..........

I received the memo yesterday morning, that’s marked ‘Deliberative:
Attorney-Client Privilege’. In this memo Counsel for the White House repeatedly, repeatedly suggests a lack of scientific support for this proposed finding. This is a smoking gun, saying that the EPA findings were political and not scientific. .........." The Hill Blog» Blog Archive » “Smoking Gun” EPA Memo Revealed (Sen. Barrasso)
Which industry is next to be under "attack"?
How exactly does this not make sense?

How much can/will the American citizens take before they revolt?

People are already frustrated & outraged with govt spending, debt, and intervention.

So, how does this make no sense?

Ah, boys and girls, U.S. Auto makers have long carried far more underperforming dealerships than foreign auto makers, so while you folks were either crying for businesses to fail or screaming about unproductive union workers, wrap you head around this, Chrysler has 3,200 dealerships vs Toyota which has only 1,200 dealerships. The amount dealerships carried by U.S. auto makers is a hinderance to maintaining the types of inventory controls that Foreign auto makers have to contend with. Shhhhhees!

Pg, are you saying that investers lost equity because of the election of this President? If so, i'm surprised that you would resort back to that idiotic believe again.

So would you much rather the government funnel even more tax payers money into these two companies? GM have been struggling for years, well before even George Bush or Clinton. The collapse of GM and Chrysler is by their own doing. Its easy to blame the unions, but the ultimately failure is by their refusal to keep up with the design competition of the international car makers. Chrysler stepped up too late with the 300, too little too late.

Are you denying that Obama and Obama alone is taking "charge" of the auto industry bailouts, funding, spending, and attempting to take control of the company from the investors, and give it to the unions?

A much simpler and cheaper solution, would have been to give every america $1,000 towards a new american car, not that I would have supported it, but that would have been a ton cheaper and people would have kept their jobs and their investments.
