I know him from a previous forum and can guarantee you that he wants union control of this country. He is not a bad guy but don't let him think that you don't care for unions or are against socialism, or he goes off.

I promise I will not go off. I have actually never been in a union and don't really have a real strong opinion either way. I believe you confuse the fact that I am interested in universal healthcare and you equate that with wanting unions. That is not the case. I am not worried about unions taking control over the country though.

Roy, you old goat, put down the crack pipe. I, in no way want unions to control this country. You and your ilk seem to be content to have corporate control of this country as we have now. I want some balance. I do not think is is fair, for instance for a simple employee to be called in for some on job sin, real or not, into a room with a HR expert, his boss and his bosses boss for an "investigatory meeting" without representation. Most of the time these meetings end up as lynchings and they happen every day in this country. I have been there, but I am more that a "simple employee", at the time it was a non union company and I had 20 years as a union rep with another company. Boy were those guys surprised, they were used to young, ignorant and imntiminated. I did not qualify as young, ignorant and intimitated. Kindda fun really, they were the ones making excuses and defending themselves b4 it was over. They grabbed the tail of the wrong critter and could not let go.
Did I just, "go off"?
I am tired of pro business legislation being passed, largely unopposed at the expense of the individual. I am tired of the best government money can buy by the money, for the money and with the money. I resent reading that 40% of bankruptcies are due to medical bills. I am tired of hearing that per capita we have the most of expensive healthcare in the world w/o the best care. I think healthcare should be a right, not a privilidge. I am tired of malpractice premimums cost being blamed on high court awards, when in reality it is because of bad investments by the insurance company genisuses trying to recoupe their bad bets through higher premiums.
If that means I want "union control" of this country in your book then so be it, I can live with that and be proud of it. Judging from the last national elections I do believe more Americans agree with me than you and your kind of mindset. Seems like the more we cede control of our country to the corporations the worse it gets, so maybe it is time for "union control" or at least some symbolance of balance.
As long as our medical-corporate complex operates "for profit" then we will continue down the same road we are on now. The most apt example of an oxymoron is the term corporate-morality.
The above is a site of the countries that have the happiest population in the world. I believe every one have socialized medicine.
Two problems:
One--Forbes has a nice, healthy history of printing nonsensical polls and surveys. This one appears to be the latest one in the chain. I don't understand why anyone would take them seriously.
Two--Read through the entire article, and nowhere are you told how many people participated in this poll. If they aren't going to give you this information, little alarm bells should start ringing in your head. Quoting percentages means nothing.
So will Obama propose we will be getting government paid vacations next? The article also sites the work/leisure ratio as being a key determinant in happiness.
