Maybe the high suicide rates leaves only the people who consider themselves happy?

And the US only lost out by a few points.

I'm sure he pretty much has paid vacations already. The question is do middle class Americans have the balls to ask for paid vacations for themselves??? I think everyone willing to work should have them so as to spend more time with their families.

How are they going to organize without unions?
On CD, unions are worse than the fires of hell.

Neither of the options that you mention would put me in the "happy" category.

Now a country that offers a living wage to it's workers - THAT would make me exceedingly happy.

They do that as well. This all goes hand and hand. It's not dog-eat-dog , survival of the fittest like it is over here.

A big part of that success fiscally, is hinged upon the fact that our banking system is the best in the world. No Canadian bank has required a government handout.
I actually have heard a banking expert talk about the Canadian banking system. They have for the most part not been affected by the recent crisis which can be attributed to their conservative policies.

Well it certainly is not because their treasures are in the right place.

Socialism would be fine if man were not involved, but man always screws up everything he/she touches.

If you really believe socialism is the answer you are naive.

Socialism has held the world in its grip since the beginning of the 20th century. People everywhere fell for the seductive allure of governmental security. Now on the eve of the 21st century, people all over the world are considering letting go of the socialist nightmare. But tragically, one of the peoples on earth who are refusing to let go of socialism are the Americans.

Laziness? It seems to me that socialism could never work in America because we have too many who would rely on a few to do the work needed to sustain the country.

In the words of the great Margaret Thatcher..."the problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money"
So true, but oblivious to the wannabe socialist.

Have you guys read these polling surveys? From reading some other sample questions, from other "happiness" polls(that makes me laugh), If I set my over all goals in life low enough and become content with less then I too can be happy and always reach my goals. Wow....
Socialism=Lower expectations

Only the lazy yearn for socialism.

Only the unmotivated yearn for socialism.

Only the whiners yearn for socialism.

I guess the conclusion must be then that only the left wing liberals yearn for socialism.
