Greatest danger is almost always from within. Everything from inventory shrinkage to embezzlement to spies and treason.
For years I've referred to clowns like Dobson, Robertson, Falwell(d), et al, as the "American Taliban." These phonies are just as dangerous to us as Al Queda. The American Taliban seek to turn this nation into a theocracy of their own design, and we know how well religion based theocracies turned out in Iran and Afghanistan. All of the whack jobs who have been in the news lately (Roeder in Kansas, the cop killer in Phila, today's shooter at the Holocaust Museum) all fit in perfect with racist, wingnut ideology of the American Taliban. The real enemy is within.

...and I have (unfortunately) been able to watch wingnuts kill 10-20 people in the last few months(and plot to kill the President) becase they irrationally thought "somebody" was going to take something from them or pure hate.

No, but if you take the broad statements in that report it would label millions as "extremists."
The right wingers have been so brainwashed that they believe Muslim terrorists are left wingers. Sanrene claims to believe Nazis are left wingers, and maybe to her they are.
You know, the one that Republicans got all upset about because it warned that with a bad economy, conservatives out of power, scare tactics being spread about Obama, etc., radical right-wing extremists might commit violent acts?
So far, we've had the guy who killed PA police officers because he thought Obama was taking away his guns, we've had a right-wing anti-abortion zealot kill a doctor in a church... and now, a white supremacist kills a guard at the Holocaust museum. Instead of fighting the thesis of that report, all sane and clear-minded Republicans should have supported it so that they are not lumped in with these fools. But as usual, petty posturing overrode common sense.
Excellent Post, yep, remember it all too well. Also remember Boehner running his mouth demanding an apology from DHS... Boehner is such an idiot but no suprise since he is representative of a failed party.

What Republicans (and at least one Democrat) were upset about wasn't that simple. The report talked about right-wing extremist groups recruiting veterans for domestic terrorism.

That's the thing though, people have a right to free speech....many didn't like how the report was written and the people it was including with the broad generalizations it making about the right....it doesn't mean ANYONE is supporting some crazy person going on a killing spree (or killing some one). It's the left that tries to "lump" these incidents together for political reasons.
The media was pre-mature about the guy in PA killing cops because he thought Obama was going to try and take his guns away. There were a number of friends and neighbors that reporters and police were asking questions and that was something just one person speculated might be the reason for the killers actions but, the media made it sound like it was the only one initially. Then a number of other reasons starting surfacing, including the possible arrest of his mother because of her knowledge of what was going on through a fight they were having but, hardly any media reported this.
When people or the media try to associate conservatives with violent acts like this, they also get very selective on the examples they site.
