You're probably right that 79% of Americans believe in a God, so I'll accept that for arguement's sake. But what % of them believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old?

Probably about the same number that believe in a geocentric universe, the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy or claim that they were there when Jim Morrison "whipped it out" on stage!

To paraphrase someone (Shaw?), if a million people say a stupid thing, it's still a stupid thing.

When I encounter people with these strange beliefs I do all in my power to avoid them, including once dropping out of a foursome at golf and joining a later group for the remaining holes.
