seriously. people are always going to hate. hate has existed since the beginning of time, and it will always exist. people need to get over race issues, or else they are going to be in for a lifetime of disappointment. or perhaps the government will start trying to legislating thoughts. we know how much some people would like that.

Yes, racism is out there & it's still rampant. Not as much as before in terms of black people but it's still there & it's gotten much worse in terms of muslims. I personally detest people who are racist. They're small-minded & I really don't want to associate w/those types of people. My parents are in their 70's, an age when they grew up w/racism so you'd think they'd still have that old-school mentality about black people. They don't & thank god I was raised right. People DO need to get over race, it serves no purpose to be racist.

I can't be racist. I think I'm better than everyone. I don't discriminate. people will never get over race. I think we are looking at about 500-1000 years for it to be a non issue. and that will only be because everyone will be mixed race. at least in this country.

I agree that racism, unfortunately, is indelibly intertwined in the fabrics of our America culture. However, I do not think that we should just "get over it." Getting over it will not motivate us to strive to make changes. And, although racism is hard to eradicate, we should always strive toward that goal.

Agreed. All those who think it all went away on January 20th are in for a rude awakening.

but, how do you even do that? brainwash people? force people to be friends? make hatred a crime? make certain words a crime? none of that is realistic. racism in this country will go away, when the races go away.

Hmm, you could be on something there.

I mean, there were'nt any racism before the white race got to America, perhaps we should all vacate the premises and give back the land to the Native Indians

What does that even mean, when races go away? I think you can do it by educating people about it. As in, when you're w/friends who are racist, talk to them about it, get them to see where you're coming from & hopefully over time they'll get over their prejudices. It can really only be done in small circles, that's where you have the most influence.

Some people will not change their minds no matter how much you teach them something. For example, a young man who grew up listening to his fathers racist rants will think that his father is speaking the truth. What boy would go against his father?

Like father, like son?
