BUT I also think they will make a "fatal error" in doing so. At that point the mood in the country will change and the government will move to declare the militia groups as terrorist organizations and start breaking them up and jailing their leaders. And they will finally tell the AM radio stations that these right wing talkers like Savage and Beck have to go if the station wants a license renewal because they are encouraging terrorism.
So we may see a good thing after all!
Good points... Also I will add it will make for bad Public Relation type ads in 2012. I can see the DNC running ads like "Is this what you want representing you". U-Tube clip will show a bunch of right wing terrorist holding tea bagging parties with their fascist signs. The shout downs at the TH's sponsored by FAUX and Freedom Works. Can't forget the shot of the Turkey that was being beheaded during Palin's interview. Of course this clip will be kept in the Archives just incase Palin decides to run for POTUS...

I love how you liberals think, wanting to lock citizens up who have done nothing wrong.
This country is a democracy. You lost the last election. We won. If you wish to deal with it, you can try to win elections in 2010 and 2012. But for now winners=keepers and losers=weepers. You can try to convince the American voters to put you back in power again. Good luck with that. But for now we are running the show and we are going to do what we want to do just like Bush did when you ran the show.
You bawl and cry at being "demonized" not recalling how YOU people treated US over the WAR? I guess you forgot the assualts and threats to the lives of people who dared oppose you stupid war in Iraq? So do us a favour and go run over some Dixie Chicks records or something!

I'm quite entertained at the "we won" nonsense. Almost as much as the Uncle Tom comments.

This is just trollish nonsense. Government is absolutely powerless to stop militia groups from forming. If the military were to get involved, many would defect along with equipment. Waco might've worked because it was just one group, but repeating the process would eventually demoralize the military and create splinter groups.

That is right!! They were elected! And as long as they keep what they do inside their own borders it is nobody else's (read ours) business!

These groups did do violence and they were quickly killed or sent to prison for doing so. Under Republican rule, only violence from the right wing is acceptable.

There have always been militia out there . . . the nutcases almost always act alone.
Then they can be killed alone! Just like Randy Weaver- right wing nutcase!

The government is not powerless. The government has unlimited resources and much greater arms. If and when the President declares that these groups are domestic terrorist (which they are) and sends the FBI, CIA, DOJ, Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force after them they will not last even a week. In fact, not even a day!

I say send all these nut bags to Gitmo... Wait, they're closing it, maybe we should reconsider...
I would add that much of paranoia and hate becoming so common these days stems directly from the righwing propaganda machine working overtime in an attempt scare the sheep. There are always those that are willing to believe whatever their "side" says without question, some of the posters here and on other boards makes that very clear.

Suuuuuure the government is not powerless.

You're forgetting about China going cold turkey on funding a counter-revolution as well as the hundreds of thousands of patriots who'd frag their commanding officers and join the civilians along with their stolen equipment. Oh, and the numbers of revolutionaries that would explode exponentially should the government decide to do such a foolish act. We outnumber them.
