The congress delegates nothing to the Federal Reserve. They have no power over this "agency."

I didn't agree with going into Iraq, but the authorization for use of military force in Iraq was voted on by the Congress.

NO. I can't even imagine what a campaign like that would do to us.

2. Look at the giant mess California is in due to their proposition system, referendums on sticky issues are just ways for legislators to avoid doing their job and are, in general, a bad idea.
Good example! People do vote against their best interest. All the time.

One thing I'd like to see, that the Democrats won't go for, is for universal health care to be tied to some degree of tort reform.

The trial lawyers running wild is one reason why healthcare is so expensive in this country.

Really, really stupid idea. I think I heard it at Specter's town hall meeting from some anrgry Townhall Taliban member. That should give you some idea of how stupid that idea is.

There aren't any provisions for national referendums under the current Constitution.

So you would express doubt that the voters would really know their own mind and are incapable of reasoned decisions? All the voters (at least those who disagree with you) lack logic or reason?

Are these the same voters who elected your president? What does that say about him?

As for "hallmarks of the legislative process", at least recently it has been more who can lie the best and scare the people the most.

The nation was founded on the people, they should be the ones to make the decision.

Ben should've said that about Congress approving pay raises for themselves.
