Why is that any different than Christianity's inception. It is all about personal faith and individual choice. Churches are just physical place to gather. Do you think that personal choice regarding this issue is not a favorable attribute? I don't care whether other people believe in God or not- I do and am comfortable with my choice. Othese do not and are comfortable with their choice.
Didn't Christ ask that is follwers "spread the word" (good news) so that all may be saved?
"1. Jesus owned nothing. 2. Jesus argued for the dissolution of the family and the establishment of communes. 3. Jesus loved all people regardless of ethnicity or class. 4. Jesus revolted against the imperial government, established religion and finance capitalism (usury). 5. Jesus taught that we should act as one body, one blood. 6. Jesus taught that his kingdom (ie nation state) is in the heart and not below the feet. 7. Jesus taught that we should fight for Justice and 'turn the other cheek' to petty morality. 8. Jesus was a laborer and a teacher. 9. Jesus practiced healing and forgiveness. 10. Jesus taught that you can't be an imperialist and a disciple at the same time."

You should read Jesus wants to save Christians by Rob Bell and The Jesus I never knew by Philip Yancey.
Both authors give a different take on Jesus, not that they say he was a socialist but they point out some things that most of the religious right doesn't like to hear. Like America becoming an empire similar to the empires described in the Bible, like the Roman Empire that occupied the country where Christ was sacrificed. How we spend more money on our military to protect our wealth than we do on helping those in need. Like how loving our neighbors is more important that passing legislation that forces them to conform to our religious views.
You would like them...if you bothered.
Yup. Good post.
I don't think you can really peg Jesus either way. He was just so unique and outside the box that nobody can truly claim him as their own--politics wise. It's like asking if Mohammed was Sunni or Shia. We just can't truly know. But I always like watching people on both sides of the fence try.
Personally, religious right leaders repulses me for the most part, especially James Dobson--and especially when I see him say (in so many words) that Jesus was a Neocon Republican and that the Dems are the enemies of God. That makes my blood boil.

11. Jesus was a wealthy carpenter 12. Jesus was GOD
I am not a socialist or a liberal. I am also not a God. Maybe that is the problem... Obama and his "followers" truly believe he is a Messiah and therefore should have the rights and privileges that God does?
You cite that as a credible source? I couldn't care less what that says.
The Bible is no collection of myths. But that's for you to believe if you want to. If that's what you think, than how can you make the case that Jesus was a socialist? According to what source (remember, you cannot use the Bible).
A lot of people have tried (through honest research) to discredit and disprove the Bible. None have succeeded, and they usually become believers trying (Josh McDowell).

Can you prove unicorns don't exist?
Of course Jesus wasn't a Socialist. Socialism got its start in the 19th century. Jesus predates that by, uh, 1800+ years. The point was literal, just that Jesus's teachings could be interpreted as more Socialist than American conservative.
Go ahead. Prove unicorns don't exist. You can use the Bible or any other source you want! Do you understand what the word "myth" means? Look it up. And Merriam-Webster isn't credible???
Well, you believe whatever Obama and the government news organization tells you, do you not?
Of course he does. But Tank has been mesmerized by propaganda and can no longer think for himself. In the new world
republican= bad democrat= good
Simple answers for simple people. Let me see.......who supported keeping language and messages as simple as possible when addressing the masses?Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........Oh, I remember- Stalin. Does the term "useful idiots" ring any bells?
