God, I hope that some school administrators will post on the Internet what happens in some of these conversations with the paranoid Bircher GOP socialism-avoider parents!
If I were to discuss this with my kids, I would emphasize that what our elected officials say is important BC they make rules that govern our lives.
Their constituents are the ones who voice their wants and these elected officials are the ones who should be following our desires and creating laws based upon the majority and NOT special interests.
What many of us were taught in civics way back when is not what we are seeing done today. I wouldn't want W or Obama giving my children a lesson in politics.

I thought this was a debate board. Are we not suppose to debate issues? I don't know for sure but the point of this place to voice our opinion on issues. Correct?
I keep hearing these people call him a "Socialist", I really wish they'd get a clue. It seems to be term they are willfully ignorant on and only assign it to things they disagree with. Half these morons are complaining and their children who are in PUBLIC SCHOOLS. I guess that type of socialism is fine right?
