The old people are the ones that have crafted the system that us young people have to work in.

If you have problems with the system and the high cost of living that is making things difficult for the rest of us you only have yourself to blame.

Yes, "company" housing. Lovely places, not!

"Republicans cater to the RICH~"

I have worked for rich republicans and rich democrats but I never blamed either because I was not making enough. When one quits blaming someone else for their problems, they may just find an answer to that problem.

If you're not getting where you want by doing what you're doing, it's not someone else's fault. It's yours.

Wealth is a mindset and you apparently don't have that mindset. You've got a victim mindset.
It's not nearly as black and white as you present it.

You can 'want' whatever you want and even work hard for it, but if the availability isn't there...then it just isn't there.

Your friend is just ONE example among many cases where the situation went the other way. And while a degree certainly isn't the only way...there are MANY jobs that won't even hire if you do not have a degree.

This economy is bad for far more reasons than simply people 'not having the mindset'.

According to this report from the AFL-CIO, young people under 35 are strugging to gain independence and make ends meet in very large numbers. 1 in three young adults under 35 live with their parents, 31% don't have health insurance and only 31% report making enough money to pay all the bills and save at least some of their income. They are burdened with student loans and are putting off traditional "rites of passage" like buying a house and having children.

So what is causing the problem? Is it the generation itself or outside pressures out of their control?

Who is to blame? Themselves.

If anything, let's not forget this: we're in a recession!

It's not really about 'young people' not making it, there are very experienced workers (who have been in the workforce for 10 years or more) who have been laid off and cannot pay their mortgages etc.

We were in a recession in the 80's as well...we got through it...

We will prevail.

He's telling it like it is... Moving away from family and friends for a better job is not something that just happened in the last few years..

Yes, it is.

There's a serious problem with a victim mentality in this country. Everyone feels like they're owed something just because they live in this country.

The most successful people in this world don't have degrees. They started companies from nothing. They found a need and they filled it.

It IS black and white. If something's not working for you, find something that will. Can't get a job? Create your own job.

Cut the victim mentality and take responsibility.
