It was also not the job of the government to intervene in the dying process of Terri Schiavo. Yet that's exactly what the so-called small government Republicans did. For the Repugs, government is evil unless it is them at the helm, then they'll ram their power down your throat.

I think many things slid by in the aftermath of 9/11, and in the name of "national security". Things that wouldn't fly today I suspect.

No, conservatism is hypocrisy. If you can take Obama to task, you should've taken Bush to task. You claim to stand on certain beliefs then stand by them..Not only when a (D) is in the Whitehouse.

Liberalism means consistency.

The government's failure with healthcare lies within Congress itself. The only thing the government needs to do is provide a structure that allows any american anywhere to purchase any part of healthcare coverage he deems appropriate for his life and/or family's condition. Anything else is a hand out.

Congress. Structure. You know, like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the Post Office.

Let the people do the rest.

Allowing "the people" the opportunity to purchase whatever insurance they want does nothing to curb the waste, fraud and abuse and/or afford those same people security if those private insurers decide to drop them because they feel like it.

It was private companies that allowed BushCo into the WH - and terrorism took off from there.
