I understand your desire not to debate something so personal and that is your right. Just remember in a forum; but when you bring up something, expect other posters to question and debate it as that is the nature of political and controversial forums.
By the way, I really admire the objectives of this community organization and wish that I could do some work also in this area as building stronger marriages and healthier families are causes I strongly believe in.
Believe me I surely know this. I have been on CD for a long time and have been very adamant about what I believe pertaining to many controversial topics where I do not mind being the lone man on the totem pole. I enjoy the dialogue I have with many posters and depending on the topic debates are welcomed as well.
In todays US society I would hate to say that any race is holding down another race. That is just a victim mentality and a great excuse for not getting ahead. Hispanics are some of the hardest working people and don't accept being "Held Down".
You must not live in a city with a large Hispanic community. In general, Blacks resent the Hispanics since they are now the larger minority and take away some of the power, money and focus that used to go to the black community.
The same racism you perceive toward Blacks is the same racism I recognize that black show toward Hispanics.
Actually I live in an area with many many more hispanics. The only differene I see is they accept the under the table 5 bucks an hour back breaking jobs and somehow people feel better for "helping" them
I agree that both Blacks and Hispanics have some deep-seated issues with one another due to a host of reasons, but overall both races need to empower themselves academically so that they can equally compete with others.
just that simple.....go to college even though your family makes 25 k a year working 60 hours a week if they are lucky.
Okay, I resorted to a cheap shot sorry, but I've seen you post over and over with the same logical fallacies, chiefly the whole only whites can be racist claptrap. These kinds of psuedo-arguments really irk me so I lost my cool.
Have a nice day!
I know they irk alot of people who fail to fully grasp the big picture.
Nice tap dance around the issue but make sure your own typing is perfect before you start questioning other poster's mistakes or else you will be made to look foolish.
What does blacks actually being in positions of superiority have to do with a belief that their race is superior to others? Beliefs are not always based in reality. Any educated person knows this.
–noun 1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
See the last part. Superior and has the right to rule others.
Until any of you arguing can supply one legitimate concrete example of how blacks in america have done this I stand by my answer and believe that you are failing to understand the big picture. You are trying to simplify something not that simple.
I have let this thread go by as long as i could. People in ALL races can be racist. PERIOD. To say otherwise is just ignorance. As far as one race holding down another in this day and age, that is just someone making up excuses for why they can't get up the energy or compunction to change you own lot in life. If others in positions worse than yours can make something of themselves then you have NO excuse.
I think the basis of this argument for many people who disagree with me is flawed as stated. I think this is additionally supported by the several recent comments saying that minorities just need to educate themselves better. That in itself is failure to recognize the fact that in america education is not equal. Inner city, minority, poor schools receive 1/3 of the funding received by wealthy predominantly white schools. The education and experience of the teachers in these schools is also far below the standards of teachers in the wealthy schools. This in an of itself is a control factor that limits education capability and capability to pursue higher education. You cannot expect entire communities to pull themselves up by boot straps when the straps are broken. There is an inequality that still exists in this country as we speak and like it or not the majority of that inequality is in minority areas.
