I did, and I was responding to okcowboy who said that kids should be educated before they reach pubertry. Also, are all kinds of sexual orientations considered a minority in your opinion? I never knew that the use of sexual orientation was a measure for minority status. I don't think the census bureau measures minorities that way. I think worrying about anyones sexuality is not necessary in school. When I mention a historical figure I don't say and by the way his or her sexual orientation is heterosexual.

I did, and I think you and I are on the same wavelength. Some of the other posters, however have different ideas. They have a right to their opinion, but so do I. Have a great day.

I don't think their history needs to be taught so much as their current culture. Good for kids to know more about alternative lifestyles, particularly if they have those personal preferences but also so all kids are more respectful of them. Fortunately kids today are more open to other lifestyles than we used to be.

Why does everything about being gay have to revolve around "alternative lifestyles?" It doesn't make any sense. Homosexuality is no more a lifestyle than heterosexuality.

Yes it should, as part of high school US history.

The gay movement was part of the cultural and political changes that came out of the 1960s. It should be taught in the context of US history of the 1960s and maybe 1970s (if that is considered history now), as part of the history of the other liberation/pride/civil rights movements, namely the black and latino and native American movements and and feminism.

I think if the intent of history is to show how we got to where we are this has to be included at

Thanks, that's all I've been aiming for consensus on.

The father of the gay movement was Harry Hay who was very much involved with NAMBLA the man rape boy club. Gay history month decided to honor this pervert in their gay history they were teaching to the innocent children. No agenda there
