Yeah this has been covered before. The ones who keep going back to the United Negro College Fund are real cute. Why don't you take a trip through a black neighborhood and use that word and see what type of reaction you're going to get? Negro is an offensive word that shouldn't be on census forms. Maybe some of y'all want to go back to 1950 when negro was acceptable verbiage where black folks had to give up their seats to white people and have seperate water fountains but I sure don't.
On Monday, the U.S. Census Bureau launched their campaign to count more than 300 million American residents. They are relying on cutting-edge technology and social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to appeal to African-Americans and heighten awareness about the 2010 census.

Actually, negro was a word that was adopted by the blacks to be called rather than being called "Black".
So was colored.
So was African-American
So was Black
So was Ni**er
Please... somebody just tell us what we are supposed to call you to describe your physical characteristics in a manner that we don't "offend" anybody.
Is it black now? Is it African-American
I am not racist, but its such a damn touchy subject, I don't even know what to say.
In a novel I read couple of weeks ago the "black" author kept referring to 'people of the darker nation".
Guess he didn't like any of the alternatives either.

What?! Oh, please, "******" ( that would be the slang of Negro by the way, as per the censoring framework of C-D)
has been a pejorative in this country since the 1800's.
It was never embraced, it has been a common insult that crosses class and race lines for decades.
It's 2010 by the way.

If they use it themselves and find it acceptable to name their organizations Negro, they need to grow up. It's either offensive or it is not. It's stupid and childish.

This is why race relations will never progress, because the liberal faction insists on calling everybody a racist for not using the latest fad word they invented in order to promote their beloved diversity.

I think Harry Reid was the one who put in that wording.
