The people who are upset about the word "negro" probably aren't aware that it is the Spanish word for black...that's all. It isn't derogatory, never was.
If they use it themselves and find it acceptable to name their organizations Negro, they need to grow up. It's either offensive or it is not. It's stupid and childish.
So who are you referring to as needing to grow up?
Since you are using the word They, are you referring to all Blacks?
If that's the case, than you need to grow up yourself.

You have to question what enlightened Government worker is writing these forms. You would think they would know what words to choose.
In my experience it's whites who are more offended by the term Negro in the Census form than Blacks. As in, "Why is it ok for the government to use Negro and it's not PC for me to use the term and it's variations?"
Just my personal observations on this and other forums who have discussed the issue.
On Monday, the U.S. Census Bureau launched their campaign to count more than 300 million American residents. They are relying on cutting-edge technology and social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to appeal to African-Americans and heighten awareness about the 2010 census.
I have a very educated good looking black friend, he makes some very good points about his own Race. Saying that most blacks get offended at the drop of a hat. They don't want to be called this, they get offended at that, never thought of that till right now. Is he right. He does not get offended by what someone calls him, because he says blacks are so confusing that people don't know truly what to call him.
Any white person who says it is automatically racist. Harry Reid is an example. End of story.
Negro, Negro, Negro, Negro, Negro, Negro. Nope, looks like the story continues on.
Caucasian, Caucasian, Caucasian, Caucasia... Yep, here too.
