Advertisements

Jon Stewart had a funny segment in which Fox would have its commentators create a story, and then minutes later its "news" program would say, "Some people are saying..." then cover the commentary as if it were actual news.

Stewart was like, "Yeah, those people were on your channel 10 minutes earlier!" Almost as funny as when Stewart caught Fox using footage from one rally to make another rally look much bigger than it actually was - all the while promoting rallies rather than covering them.

Great how Stewart calls Fox's b.s. so frequently - Hannity even had to apologize for that manipulation.

Anyway - CNN keeps advertising that it has more total viewers than Fox and MSNBC. I'd like to see the stats on that.

Pretty simple.

-When someone at work parrots a talking point supplied by the Fox News commentators.

-When you ask questions surrounding the issues of that "talking point" and they can't answer. They just repeat the "talking point."

-When these same people who parrot Fox New's talking points know little else about what is going on in the news.

That is how you recognize a Fox News junkie that doesn't watch anything but Fox News.

Fox News is viewed regularly by about 1% of Americans. Good for Fox.

More than twice as many Americans watched "Biggest Loser 9" last week. That should help keep things in perspective.

MSNBC, not so much. Considering MSNBC can share footage with it's broadcast channel, you'd think they would have the best reporting and video simply because they should have more boots on the ground in Haiti than the other two. Fox has no national news program, just local, and CNN has none at all.

Reported like a true blind follower...your headline doesn't relate at all to what you are reporting.
People watch FOX"news" to avoid reality, not learn more about it!

Good God, not another "Fox has high ratings so it's better" thread.

Don't people realize that just because something's popular doesn't necessarily make it good? Saying that Fox News is good because it's popular is like making the football captain valedictorian because he got on homecoming court. It makes no sense! *sigh*

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to the BBC. You know...REAL news!

Jesus man, I guess Haiti is just a ratings game for some of you people?

Who cares! Donate money and help out. Quit trying to use the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people as a means to score points against the other team. Also be warned, Karma can be a *****...

Yes, it's suppose to be funny but, not necessarily factual....it doesn't need to be, the show is meant to be comedy. He gets to have the best of both worlds....he can be serious if he wants to be and call FOX on the accuracy of the facts they're reporting and at the same time, if he says anything inaccurate, it's OK...it doesn't have to be....it's just a joke. His audience loves to hate FOX news so, he can be funny and a hero at the same time. It's just catering to the audience and saying what they want to hear, like they all do to maintain viewer loyalty and ratings. It's ironic that FOX gets so much criticism from the left for not being real news and at the same time the Daily Show is often spoken about as if it was a real news program.

Look at what Olbermann does...along with his "Special Comments" he has a segment called "Worst Person in the World" which overwhelmingly criticizes conservatives and FOX news (especially O'Reilly). I don't care much for Ann Coulter but, he's named her for Worst Person in the World something like 20 times (maybe he's got a crush on her or something....lol). It's just catering to his audience. They all do it, it's just that he's blatant about it...especially when you consider all the hate spewing the right always gets accused of.....again though, it's really all about ratings.

Politics and the media that reports it has gone from campaigning on what you stood for and having it accurately and fairly reported on the nightly news to now just making the other guy look bad at all costs (to make yourself look better....since there are only two choices when it comes to candidates running for office....and only few alternatives for 24 hour news channels). If the accuracy of your accusations is questionable, it doesn't matter, your core supporters will accept it and run with it, citing it to the opposition like it was the bible....and retractions are almost unheard of today.

Nobody claims The Daily Show is news. It is satire that puts a mirror to the political world in a way that nobody else has the balls to do. That's why he's popular. That sense of truth people get from it is Stewart calling people on their hyocrisy and lies - not in reporting news accurately.

I guess you don't watch Daily Show a lot, but he actually goes after everybody - CNN, MSNBC, Obama - pretty evenly. It's just that Fox takes their manipulations to such a ridiculous extreme it's hard to ignore (Olbermann, like Beck, is just a commentator paid to rabble rouse).

Clearly you don't watch MSNBC either. If you did, you would know that O'Reilly and Limbaugh are on the Worst Person list almost daily. Coulter is nowhere near the top of the list.

And if you watched MSNBC, you would have heard Maddow and Olbermann correct themselves and apologize when they got something wrong. Admittedly it doesn't happen often but when it does, they correct it.
