I don't think thats a huge percentage of these United States.
Most people don't like gay marriage, or abortions, or other things listed. However, they don't want legislation passed telling others they can't do them either.
I don't like people waisting time and money on church structures either, but I don't want to pass a ban to stop them from doing that either.
I can't believe this thread is even being allowed. Comparing anyone in the U.S. to the Taliban is horrible. What they did to us is beyond words and to even suggest anyone here is like that just because they are Christian or belong to a certain political group is inexcusable.

Spoken like a true liberal. How do you know people vote against their own best interests? Perhaps some of those people who vote against what the liberal party THINKS they need, don't agree with the liberals trying to tell them what is "best " for them.

No real surprise here. Remember this study doesn't show that all conservatives on average have a lower IQ than liberals, but conservatives that identify themselves as social conservatives AKA Christian Taliban tend to have a much lower IQ than liberals and conservatives that are socially liberal. Explains a lot about some of the post and posters on this board.

Who says an electrician, mechanic, or plumber can't have a high IQ? its a misconception that blue collar folks have a low IQ.
Never said that they did, never insinuated any such thing. I said thats who the so called really really smart people call when simple solutions elude them.
Sort of like some people think that because some one graduated from college that they must be really smart. Here again I work in a factory. Every year we get a new wave of college grads. Normally engineers.
Its amazing how little they understand about basic mechanics, troubleshooting and cause and effect. Life experience trumps the books just about everytime.

I love watching the geniuses at work. Tinman why are you using that big what ya call it on that small bolt? Uhmmm Its called a torq wrench and every bolt has a torq rating that makes it last and perform best. Oh uhmm yeah I knew that but do you need to do that? NO I can over tighten and snap the bolt off or under tighten and it will back out later on.
Well a good many of the high IQ folks I know are just about helpless when it comes to everyday decision making. Toilet plugged up call a plumber no clue how to clear it.
Dead battery in their car? Lost
Lawn mower won't start? Lost
Flat tire? How do you work the jack? The lug nuts are too tight.
How do you prune the fruit tree?
Furnace filter? Wheres that at?
Kick a breaker? Better call an electrician.
Lost in the woods? Oh snap we are all gonna die.
Sorry but high IQ doesn't mean guarantee anything.
I understand that many so called geniuses are high functioning do it yourselfers. But then quite a few need Velcro fasteners on their shoes.

Well the Taliban in Afghanistan don't only hurt people. They also used laws to repress women, and violate civil rights of other citizens while they were in office.
Now, quite unlike many Christian conservatives in these United States, they resorted to violence to punish those who they deemed un-Muslim. However, Christian conservatives would like to see a law passed banning abortions, which would make it illegal, which would allow for the arrest of doctors that perform the act, and women who seek them out.
So they aren't quite as crazy as the craziest Taliban, but they are on par with the Taliban who ran the government, and weren't killing people on a daily basis.
That sounds more Progressive than anything Conservative.

We have a module manager that supposedly has an IQ over 150!! In a paper mill is a lot of dust. His solution was to build a tent around each line to capture the dust. The only problem is now the lines would get so dirty that they couldn't run. Not to mention working on them became a nightmare. The funny thing is the areas outside of the tent really didn't stay much cleaner. LOL
Same guy has a truck. Bought it used. The wiring harness for the trailer hitch kept dragging on the ground. Well he ignored it. He knew about it because a few of us warned him that eventually that would be a problem.
He never fixed it. Well soon he had electrical shorts in his brake lights.
Some butt kisser fixed it for him. The solution to the dangling wires?
LOL a wire tie and some electrical tape. Managers and their superior attitudes kill me.
