The article Fox cites simply states that he's a disorganized guy -- see the Mail.uk article in the first thread on this topic, and my quote of it above in post 7.
Headline says: 'Climate-gate' Professor Admits No Global Warming Since 1995

In the article it says:
'And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming.'

Where is the lie? Misleading in the extreme?

The Fox headline is 100% accurate:

Quote:
BBC News - Q&A: Professor Phil Jones

B - Do you agree that from 1995 to the present there has been no statistically-significant global warming

Yes, but only just. I also calculated the trend for the period 1995 to 2009. This trend (0.12C per decade) is positive, but not significant at the 95% significance level. The positive trend is quite close to the significance level. Achieving statistical significance in scientific terms is much more likely for longer periods, and much less likely for shorter

Who needs to appreciate statistical significance anyway? That's just one of those tools intellectual elitists use. Can't you see that the weather is changing? That PROVES global warming is real!

I always have a tough time with this question.

"....he argued [that] this was a blip rather than the long-term trend."

In a long term trend every year is finally "statistically significant."

Guys, don't worry, when the weather turns, the fear mongers will come up with another "man made" crisis. In the 70's it was that we were causing the next ice age after a few cold winters, in the 80's and early 90's acid rain and the ozone layer were the big buzz words to gain political power. Global warming took root longer than most of the others, but it seems to be dying a natural death. I have little doubt that something else will be brought up next.

And do you know that his methodology has been suspect in the past resulting in NASA having to adjust their warmest year claim?

Let me ask you a question.

Which is the warmest year from 1900 to current?
