I laugh when I read that specialists are making so much more than primary care doctors. Do any of you realize that some specialists like Nephrologists are dependent upon Medicare because the patients they treat fall under the End Stage Renal Disease program under Medicare?

A couple of doctors I know say the insurance/medicaid issues cause them more stress headaches than patients. Many are considering going to cash only practices. Or Charge people a fee to be their patient.

Doctors get frustrated when they see patients who can't/won't stop harmful vices (overeating/smoking/drinking). Those folks should get help elsewhere instead of wasting a primary care docs time and the governments money.

It is ignorant not to see them as small businesses providing jobs and a service in the community. Regardless of the good or service you provide, it should not take 8 months to get paid. I realize there is a bunch of paperwork that needs continual followup, but not seeing payment quarterly, usually results in collection agencies getting involved.

Most doctors essentially give up the first 10 years of adult life (and earning potential) to become doctors. With that said, the amount of debt most have when starting out is huge. So I dont have an issue with them making a lot of money. They are not paid like CEOs which is another thread.

This is what universal healthcare does. Pretty soon, you will have illegal aliens as doctors. As those will be jobs Americans can no longer afford to do.

Saying someone who has never lived in Europe nor seems to know anything about it. Way to go. Otherwise you'd know that there's a basic salary and a suplement being paid.

I believe many doctors get paid very well, they also have a very tough job. Some with at least 8 yrs of schooling (are any of you doc haters willing to give up 8-12yrs) or more. The time they spend to get the degrees and all that goes with the wonderful life many of you think they have with all those millions (you think) they make.
Are any of you willing to wait 8,9,10 months to get paid for work you did? I don't think so. Are any of you willing to shell out thousands of dollars a year to cover no based lawsuits just because someone thinks they might hit the lottery for something they think you did wrong.
It takes a special person to become a doctor, it takes a time commitment setting your life aside for many years.

I do not begrudge any doctor making the money they do, they worked for whatever they get and the free market will determine that. That is unless Obama has his way, then the docs will be working for far less, and we will not have the best people, we will have the bottom 1% of the class.

Reform is needed, but don't hate on the docs, these are the people that saved someone you loved or will save them. I congratulate them for going into a field that is very challenging, time consuming and stressful to say the least.

Health care is not a RIGHT.

Right now the death seems to be a right. You got that right. Time to change that.

Change to what?
You seem to advocate: "No one should suffer / die because they lack medical care."
But you forgot the preface:
"No one should be compelled to labor for the benefit of another, so that..."

Slavery is never an acceptable solution to the ills of mankind.

Voluntary charity is a blessing.
Compulsory charity is a curse.

We'll do this slooowly its Pounds Sterling not US Dollars so you can double the amounts to get dollars. Then, including incentives most make about 200,000 pounds a year.

I believe malpractice insurance is a fraction of what it is in the U.S. AND medical school is paid for.

Take away those two hassles and lower salaries can be justified.
