Many members of the GOP would have supported a bill to completely do away with pre-existing conditions. No one on this thread is disputing that there were issues in healthcare n this matter. But to proclaim that individuals were tied to company A because of pre-existing conditions is an outright LIE..

No one's lying.
Yes HIPAA does guarantee the continuance of coverage for most cases where an employee changes jobs. My wife was tied to her job b/c of insurance coverage and her pre-existing condition of cancer.
B/c of her pre-existing condition she could not see the cancer doctors she wanted to see at the hospitals she wanted to attend b/c either the doctor or the hospital or both were out of network coverage and procedures covered by her existing insurance were not covered by the insurance offered by her prospective employer. The insurance she could get was no insurance at all.
This is very important:
HIPAA DOES NOT GUARANTEE IDENTICAL COVERAGE
...doctors, hospitals, procedures...none of it is guaranteed to be covered when switching insurance.
So get off of your high horse, ok? You don't know all the facts.
