For you knee-jerk anti-healthcare reform people out there consider this:

Who pays for the uninsured now?
Who pays for the bad debt the hospitals are carrying because of the uninsured?

Answer: The taxpayers.

The GOP has had DECADES to come up ith a better plan, and they've given us bupkis. They do nothing, wait for the Dems to do their dirty work, sit back and point their fingers and say, "wrong." Sorry, Charlie, the nation has waited long enough for you to get off your duffs and do something.

All of these people waving signs and screaming about government spending didn't utter a peep when it came to the 10 billion dollar a MONTH price tag for a war we had no business getting in to. None of them said a word when GWB cut taxes and forgot to cut spending. Turning a surplus into a deficit. Nobody ran to their Congreeman's office when GWB and Congress gave over a trillion dollars to banks who shot themselves in the foot selling below-prime mortgage backed securities.

It's just a bit too convenient.

Actually, Republicans put forward several proposals in the last year or so. Democrats shot them down and in not so many words told them, "my way or the highway." For over a year now, Dems have had enough votes to pass whatever they wanted to pass, without a single Republican vote. Yet they passed this monstrosity, this late in the game.

Who's the real "party of no"?

Still playing the "Bush did it!" game, I see.

So let me get this straight. Bush spends like a drunken sailor, and it's bad. Obama spends like twelve drunken sailors, and it's good, but only because Bush spent a bunch of money first.

Gotta love that logic.

BTW, whether you agree with the war(s) or not, there's no denying that declaring war is one of the few things that the Federal government is specifically permitted to do under the Constitution. Mandating that people purchase a potentially unneeded or unwanted product from a private company isn't.

Well I was not comparing the morality, only that we have survived conflict before.
And change did occur.
Again, it is a done deal or one would think, so now we will have to just see how it shakes out.
Remember we are in the middle of two wars, I wish someone would get upset over that.

I think the logic is more like - Bush spends trillions on war and nation building (including healthcare for other nations), and it's bad. Obama spends a fraction of that on healthcare for the American people, and it's good because it's helping the American people.

I guess you're in the top 2% of the country making over $250,000 for a family...cause that's the only way your taxes are going up.

And if you are; do you even know by how much they're going up? didn't think so.

Huh? I never said you weren't a real American. You apparently don't realize that I'm not the person you're hearing on talk radio. In fact, I've never even been in a radio studio!

Swagger: "Actually, Republicans put forward several proposals in the last year or so."

(R)'s were in charge for 6.5 years in the 2000's. 6.5 years. bupkis. Again, they love the (D) party to carry their water, then complain about it.
