Did the 1700s survive past 1799?
Did the 1600s survive past 1699?
Did the 1000s survive past 1099?

No, civilzation changes all the time. It's very unlikely that anyone alive today will be around to even see the year 2099. So who cares? Live for today and enjoy the civilization you're a part of.
