"It was Broncos 17, Giants 7, and Jones had moved to the Denver 22, when he saw an opening and deployed up the middle and called on his legs for the first time. The competitor in him told him not to slide. He didn’t slide. And he coughed up the football on a hit by LB Josey Jewel, and Malik Reed recovered at the Denver 15. Same Old Jones will mean Same Old Giants."
Plus, for all of his warts, he is the Giants best option at QB. They need him to be healthy, so slide!
Jones played well last night, 250 passing yards, almost 100 rushing yards, 2 TDs.
There's a sports media echo chamber that is hyper-critical of Jones.. but he had a good game vs Washington. They lost a close game, but it wasn't on Jones.
My opinion, Giants' biggest failures of the game were the FG offsides, and when a wide open Slayton couldn't pull in a TD catch.
That seems to be how this team's season will go... Finding ways to lose. Our schedule is not going to be easy the rest of the way. Dare I say it, but we could easily be 1-9 or 0-10. Only good thing that can come out of this is Gettleman getting fired.
0-10 is a distinct possibility now. Granted, there are various problems with the team right now, but the decision not to put some draft capital into the offensive line last draft looks particularly bad now.
