Hoping by 4th of July. Depends on the wait for concrete pavers. Next steps are plumbing, paver deck and concrete brick bull-nose trim around the pool. No one showed up today. Yesterday they were here for just an hour.

Pardon me for jumping in with a question, Messing About. We plan to add a pool to our PG home once we start using it for retirement and this thread caught my eye. So the construction started on your pool the end of April but you won't be able to use it until possibly the 4th of July? Is that correct? I'm a Montana girl so this outdoor pool stuff is new to me. Thanks and I appreciate the photos you are posting.

Yes, that right. My contractor is not the fastest on the market but the design, price and reputation convinced me they were right. Two big things can hold this up...waiting on pavers for my 1300 sq ft pool cage deck and waiting on the subs used by my contractor. I'm holding out hope they are the under promise, over deliver types and it doesn't go that long. Time will tell.

MA, are you going with white or bronze cage? One thing to find out from the builder is, what is the paint warranty on the cage aluminum. Ours is only 3 yrs old and the paint around the bottom plate is flaking off. Not sure if it is from the salt water or not (the salinity is VERY low, nothing like sea water), but I'm a bit displeased with it. I called Absolute Aluminum out of Venice, who did the cage, and they basically said there's nothing they can do. We now have a signed contract on the sale of our home, so I'm not too worried about it, but something for you to keep in mind.

@ HH - we went bronze for showing less dirt. Not sure what the warranty is. The cage work is subbed to Benchmark Aluminum. Tried to call the number on the card but it's disconnected. That can't be good. Better ask my PC.

Congrats on the contract! Will sure miss driving past your place but we're excited to know you will be right off the ICW now. We need to go fish some spots over there together. Been too long and you've not yet enjoyed the Mako Flats. Feel free to come by here and see the pool design. Who knows, you may want to steal an idea. I'm working from home much more often nowadays. Here all week. Your birthday fishing hat has been sitting here for a couple of more birthdays since you forgot it.

MA I sent you a PM with the number I have for Benchmark.

A few months ago I had a few companies come our to give me quotes for a pool cage.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet but Benchmark was the one who impressed me most.

One of the things I liked was that they were the only ones who offered what he called a picture window,
over sized openings with an unobstructed view.

Gary

We're doing something very similar, courtesy of our pool designer's suggestion.
Miter the corners of the cage, so as to eliminate the squared corners on both ends away from the house.
Gives a picture window view of a focal point in the landscape.
We have a large bougainvillea on one side and a birdbath with geraniums on the other.

Thanks for the number, Gary.

Nothing this weekend, really. They came last ?Monday and removed the concrete forms and didn't come back.
We watched each day as the shell cured more and more. You can see the dark spots fade with each day. It's about 95% dry at the surface! at least. Not sure why they didn't come work on deck or plumbing but they didn't. We shall see what the coming week brings.

According to my husband, who is a commercial architect, it is usually 7-10 days before they can start doing other things. He also said that your contractor should be able to give you a more specific date and what psi (pound per square inch)your concrete is and how long it will take before they can start on other things. Husband said that the concrete usually sets up within 7-10 days and is cured within 28. Now with that being said, he said you should contact your contractor since we are in Texas and it might work a little differently, probably not much, in Florida since the climate is different. Clear as mud, right?
