Hi Folks,
we have just relocated here to the cary area from Florida. we have a daughter 14 yrs old. 8th grade. she is currently homeschooled. we are looking to send her to school for high school. we were told that Green hope and Panther creek are the better schools in the area. we are looking for a rental home and are finding out homes zoned for GH are near impossible to find we have finally narrowed down two homes, the one zoned for GH is about as chique as a shack. the panther creek zoned one is gorgeous. i sooo want to pick the nicer home but dont want to comprimise my child's quality of education and school life if PC is not comparable to GH
My daughter has an IEP to address her ADD issues. she is also socially a little awkward.
Any of you out there with kids with an IEP in high school can you please give me your opinion/advice? thanku!
My son is a sophomore at Cary High and has an IEP for ADHD and a learning disability. I am very satisfied with the services and support they provide him.
Feel free to message me directly if you want to discuss specifics.
I did all the HS research 2-3 years ago and was also looking for a rental. I have not heard anything about GH or PC that would indicate paying that kind of money to live there would be worthwhile. Not saying anything against those schools. Just that the cost difference seemed outrageous.
In general I think that a homeschooler is going to be happier in a smaller high school. Those big schools are hard to adjust to.
Is your child at all artsy? There are still seats available at Longleaf School of the Arts Charter HS. It will be in downtown raleigh for the first year. only 300 students total in the first year.
How does she have an IEP is she is homeschooled? I thought IEPs are only for kids in public education (this from a special ed teacher/mom of special child)
