Here is hoping this isn't a case of the Wuhan coronavirus, or if it is the health professionals are able to contain it. Possible case of Wuhan coronavirus reported in NC. Not obvious from the title, but the patient was taken from RDU to Duke Hospital.

Sounds more precautionary than anything "had mild respiratory symptoms"

(meanwhile so far this "season", 54 children have died from the flu)

While it is a concern that the latest coronavirus will take some focus off our annual flu season, the very real concern that a virus for which we have no defense could go pandemic warrants significant attention.

Additionally, who trusts China reports to be accurately or timely. Or, do you think they would stay quiet until it became clear it was out of control?
Bat Soup, anybody?

I firmly believe this is much bigger than we are being told. China is building a hospital solely for the purpose of housing cases of those affected with Coronavirus.

I’m not suggesting any type of conspiracy theory...just that it is quite possible this will reach pandemic levels.

If that lady, who posted she took meds to pass screening, knew she has coronavirus - I hope they arrest her and throw the book at her.

Part of me wants to watch Contagion again - but I remember being a psycho-somatic mess well after watching it in the theater. I remembered the scene from Outbreak when the person was coughing in the theater was spreading the virus and I was antsy just sitting there.

Sooner or later, this civilization is going to get rocked by a virus with a week or two incubation and high fatality rate. My hope is that our medical technology and responsiveness to creating a vaccine or cure beats that event out. With AI, nano tech, etc., we could see these threats lessen, but it's a race against the technology clock.

It's the ebola scare all over again. People need something to panic about.

I'm a big proponent of daily Vitamin D along with your annual flu shot. Don't know if the Vitamin D would help against the Wuhan coronavirus, but it does help against colds some of which are also coronaviruses. https://www.sciencedaily.com/release...0216110002.htm

China shut down 70,000 theaters last night at an estimated cost of >$1 Billion. It seems that they have concerns.
