True, but isn't now a good time to start being clean? Great Clips and many of these high volume places are just plain slimy.
Also, just for public appearance purposes, 100% of your employees should be wearing masks. Doesn't matter if customers do or don't.
Absolutely the places should be clean. If we weren't so lazy we wouldn't be in this ridiculous quarantine as, in my opinion, it's the lack of personal hygiene is what brought us here. Personally, I'm enjoying the social distancing. I've been social distancing all my life. Now I can finally stand in line without someone breathing on my neck. I would take a few steps to get away from them and here they come. I guess the lack of common sense makes them think the tighter the line the faster they'll get through the check-out line.
So you state "for public appearance purposes" implying masks are purely placebo (which I would at this point have to agree based on the newly-released studies)?
Since I didn't want to wait any longer, or deal with the marital bliss that resulted from my wife cutting my hair the first time :-) I went to a local Great Clips over the weekend. All employees were in masks, all customers were in masks. Waiting area closed, told to wait outside until my turn, etc.
The usual cheap, in and out hair cut.
Since the mask I was wearing had a behind the head elastic, she cut around it, until she needed to cut that spot and asked me to hold it in place when the elastic was removed from behind head. Not a big deal.

Can you share these studies which state that masks are nothing more than placebo/zero impact?
Was cycling today and stopped by North Hills to check what was and wasn't open, Sports Clips was open and empty around 5:30pm. On the news the other day they showed long queues and a 3-hour wait for another chain barber, not sure which shop or location.

Probably not these recent studies, which say the opposite- while emphasizing the need to pay attention to the fabric used and the fit of the mask for optimal performance.

well, if a placebo kept you from breathing anxiously.... ?
Placebo is something that has zero physiological efficacy.
I don't know any medical expert, tradesman, HazMat crew etc that would argue masks have zero physiological effect. In fact isn't one of the side effects of wearing masks for a long duration that it can actually cause the wearer harm because they are effective?
