wow, what great responses guys, thanks! Now I have a whole list, hmmm...maybe it's gonna have to be twice a month!
By the way, I realized how selfish of me not to list my own 3 faves...so far...
Tasu...sushi place in Brier Creek, same owners as Shiki Sushi in Durham
St. Jacques...French place, very expensive, but hands down the BEST meal I've ever had, ever.
McCormick and Schmicks...yea yea I know, a chain, but EVERYTHING there is fabulous, trust me, and I despise chains for the most part.
Which one of these in Durham should I go to celebrate my birthday? Something nice, but not to fancy.
If you like Italian, I would recommend Piazza Italia in Brightleaf Square. Definitely nice, but not too nice. Plus, they have a huge selection of homemade gelato. I mentioned this place before... It's just outstanding. Simple, GOOD Italian food.

I'd do Magnolia Grill. It's perfect celebration food, fun but not uptight, and the atmosphere isn't the waiter-puts-your-napkin-in-your-nap type. It's pretty bright and a little noisy, but not too noisy. Just be sure to save room for dessert - seriously, don't skip it!!!
Lily's Pizza: Great pizza. Cool vibe. Low price.
Sitti: LOVE the pita bread! Urban location. Reasonably priced. Good Food.
The Rockford: Good. Fresh. Cheap. Urban.
All of the above are in Raleigh and are places I frequent. I figured everyone else would give you high end stuff. I figured I'd give you some good places that are casual, inexpensive and fun.
I would like to thank everyone here for NOT listing a Peter Fleming chain. :gag:
