"gag" was probably a bit strong. You can get some good food at those places, sometimes even very good. But it's inconsistent as **** - and more to the point, quite overpriced. It's a classic case of people doing what's trendy and overpaying for "atmosphere" (and I think they are overrated in that dept too).

His name is Paul Fleming. He founded P.F. Changs, Pei Wei, Flemings Prime Steak House, and Blue Coral in California. He had nothing to do with Brio Tuscan Grill. They seem do be doing fine and value for your money is relative to the guest.

Don't forget Parizades in Durham! In the cool weather, nothing beats their artichoke, shrimp, risotto. Follow this with a cappucchino and handmade chocolate filled with liqueor. Call first to be sure it's on the dinner menu, sometimes they remove it in the summer.

Four Square and Nana's in Durham are fab too!

Shikhi Sushi (Durham)
Metro8 Steakhouse (Durham)
