You had a custom house built, and for that, I guess you paid a lot more money. Mine is a standard house in a tract of similar houses, not quite a starter home, and most of the house is well-laid-out, but it's certainly not a custom house.

In those days, the houses around here did not include landscaping of any kind, nor perimeter fencing for that matter.

Which type of custom house do you have? You supplied the plans and had the house constructed, or you bought a previously owned custom house?

Similar to the bad listing pictures would be the “can you believe they are asking this much” listings. The Canadian and California listings are particularly cringeworthy. Like when they are asking a million $ for a 1000 Sq ft dump that would cost under $100k in flyover country.

Wow, that is unbelievable. Makes me wonder what the buyer is planning to do with it. I can't even imagine touring that place.

I agree, I just meant the "quality" of the photographs was good, as in they looked like they were professionally done. What was "in" the pictures is a different story.

That sounds a lot like the second house I ever bought. Apparently both of the elderly owners had been taken to a nursing home rather quickly. One had been bedridden and the other was legally blind - they definitely couldn't see dirt! All of their stuff was still in the house, including walkers, hospital bed, potty chair, etc. I didn't find out what the pattern of the kitchen floor was until I had scrubbed it four times; it was that dirty. However, the house had nice hardwood floors, a huge back yard for gardening, and was 1/2 mile from the beach. I fixed it up to be a nice little place once I used Raid sprays in every room to kill the bugs.
