Finely chopped onion and garlic powder added to the basic tuna recipe helps make it more flavorful in the style of sandwich shops. Really helps with the blandness.

Many places replace the mayonnaise in their tuna salad with Miracle Whip, which has more sugar and less soybean oil than does mayonnaise.

Miracle Whip is vomitous. Sweetness does NOT belong in my tuna salad, egg salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, or anywhere near a sandwich. I also abhor sweet relish for this reason. Puke. Mayo all the way. I definitely can't deal with places that make their salads with Miracle Whip, and I ALWAYS ask. It's pretty much the only thing I'll send something back over, and even then, only if I've already specifically asked and been erroneously reassured that the place uses mayo. But Miracle Whip is sick.

This is my post from September 4th. It is not mushy. It is superb tuna - the tuna you are looking for, the tuna that you need. Now watch & see, nobody will listen to me and try it and then in a few months we'll go through all this again. ....

This is the only tuna I buy. It's the cat's meow. It's superb.

As for the tuna salad, I use some celery and lemon juice.

Default What do you use for tuna salad

Made myself some tuna salad for lunch and it got me thinking how does other people make their tuna salad?

I boil two eggs per one can of tuna in water. Chop up the boiled eggs and mix with the tuna. I then add a dash of mustard for kick and about a tablespoon or two of mayo (I add a little at a time and stir to desired moistness). I also add some dill weed and a little Cajun spices.
