Her being Chinese has notheing to do with her reaction, but it makes funny press. Ive dated some pretty meak Asian girls that would have run and hide and Ive dated some white/black/hispanic women who would have beat the pie thrower down. either way murdoch deserved the pie!
Yeah, especially Black/Hispanic/Polynesian women. I've seen some hellafied beatdowns given by same.
Her empire? I honestly think she was defending her husband. The man who chose her out of millions of woman to be part of his empire. The man who gave her children, luxuries and "financial security". The man who I'm sure she has grown to love, because he has been so giving to her. I think that's the least she could do.
Wendi is protective of Mr. Murdoch, that is true, but I'm skeptical it's just simple love. She needs the man around and on top of things long enough for her children to reach the age of majority and acquire their place in the Murdoch empire.
If something happens to Mr. Murdoch before Wendi's children are grown, the children will probably never be able to gain any significant control of the Murdoch media empire ...
I'm not doubting that she could be a moneygrubbing opportunist, but seriously, it was a pie. A shaving cream pie, not a poison pie that threatened Murdoch's life and the future of the younger Murdochs' financial holdings. It's not like she stepped in front of a bullet for the man.
Personally, I wish Murdoch had been pied in the face ....
This jerk deserves everything he gets IMO. Unfortunately the guy who was trying to throw a pie in his face chose a pretty bad moment as it distracted from a very serious parliamentary committee. He should have done it outside in the street .

I was waiting in anticipation when watching the story on the news for the first time, just waiting for the moment the old man took a pie to the face. Yet, I was let down when the feisty wife deflected the pie.
When she went to Cal State Northridge, she was having an affair with the husband of the family who hosted her.
She broke up that marriage and wound up marrying the guy only to divorce him a few months later (of course after receiving a green card).
She's just a nasty ambitious cut throat barracuda. No doubt she was only showing loyalty to her meal ticket by knocking that guy in the face. Murdoch is lucky she's 42 and not 80 like he is because she couldn't have moved so fast and he would have been wearing loads of foam from that pie.

It always hands me a laugh when other gold diggers try to defend members of their ilk, like Ms. Dung or Deng or whatever. But your post pretty much shuts down any self-serving whining argument that may have.

Chose her out of millions? Ha, ha - your assuming that there are "millions" of women that would allow that old, wrinkled, angry, lying and mainipulative old **** marry them because he has money. And the luxuries and financial security that he has given her is due exclusively to the fact that in his view, she makes for a pretty good sperm recepticle. Nothing more or less. The least she could do if she wants the world to even remotely think that she "loves" that guy would be to blow the hell out of him with the cameras rolling. It would maybe even make for better ratings than that childish little attempt she made at being significant for more than five minutes.

The NYTimes article said this was part of the original deal Mr. Murdoch brokered with his previous wife prior to divorce.
I believe their children are 5-6 years old and he is 80+. The chance of him living until they reach majority is very, very slim. "Something" is going to happen to him alright... Same fate none of us can escape.

Did she know what it was when she stepped in front of him. Did anyone but the assailant know for sure what was going on when it happened? The President's security would do the same thing. They'd protect him. She didn't know what she was throwing herself in front of and she didn't care. She's protecting her husband.
