I agree it's sad, but that's the reality for some of us. I don't have parents, siblings, husband/SO, and kids. Who do you suggest is more important than I am...?

My husband is the most important person to me. Although, I don't know about this saving thing. Him vs my mom. I'm not sure what I would do.

I would also go with myself. If you've ever been on a plane, you've heard the safety instructions to put your oxygen mask on first before putting on anyone else's. And it's not about selfishness or loneliness or anything like that. Quite frankly, it's a concept that is still counterintuitive for me. I have spent a large chunk of my life feeling that everyone, anyone, was more important than I. Let me tell you, that sucks a lot worse.

To use the "drowning" analogy, what if it's not that the other person can't swim, but that they won't? I'm sitting here thinking about it and I have spent about 25 years trying to "save" this person or another: relatives (including my own parents), friends, significant others. A friggin' quarter century. And I am done. They had better learn how to swim pretty damn fast, that's all I'm sayin'

My little brother, (: We've been buddies from the very beginning. I would do anything to protect him.

My wife, always. Also, my children when they were at home, and then our dog, since she is family, too.

I can't speak for my wife, but I hope than I am first, and our dog second

The most important person in my life is definitely my son. In a drowning situation, I would save my son. I'm not married, but I would expect my husband to be able to save himself, or at least hold on long enough until I could get my son to safety.

Me, myself, and I... I don't think I am strong enough to sacrifice my life for anyone, although in a moment of chaos I'll definetely save my baby sister... and then make a darn good effort to save myself
