I'm enjoying your insights, Barcelona. So tell me, why is "cute" preceded by "just"? I mean, why isn't "cute" enough for a lot of guys? Does it really have to be gorgeous, or hot? (I'm not asking about you specifically, since you said cute + personality would work for you. I'm asking what your observation is about other guys.)
Because cute is not enough for a guy. We really are out for a conquest. If a guy has the option to be with a better looking girl, he will take it.
It's pretty simple. Unless the guy is with the hottest girl in the place, he will look around. Unless he is absolutely in love with her.
Cute is not enough unless it's sexy cute like Katy Perry or Zooey Deschanel.

OK. Except for the shy guys, or the guys who are grateful that anyone would give them the time of day, like you said earlier. Those are the ones who would be into "cute", I guess. So you really think guys are out for a conquest? It's that shallow? (Just picking your brain, here.)
I think I would go with confidence and good personality. I can totally be friends with an unattractive chubby male who feels good about himself and makes me feel great about myself, I can't see myself befriending or ever liking an underwear model with a ****ty attitude and subpar conversational skills. Thus there is a bigger chance that I'd like the former.
that does absolutely nothing for the chubby male. You are still friends with him and not attracted to him

Pick away. Yes, a cute girl can keep a less than cute guy, but again it's no guarantee. Just way better than keeping an attractive man.

I bet there are a lot of "cute" married couples who'd say you're wrong. And do you really think an "attractive" man, once in a committed relationship with a "cute" woman, would trade up if he had the chance? By the time he's in a committed relationship, he's really appreciating personality, and other qualities in his mate, he's bonded.
