i'm just wondering what people think of women that purposely seek male inmates to form relationships with whether it's a as a girlfriend or wife?. being a penpal is one thing and i'm actually a penpal but from being on some of those forums i find that some women are using the penpal sites as a dating service.which is in my opinion why there is such a stigma attached to the subject of penpals.
Come on, is life so hard that women need to go to a prison to pick up guys?

oh yeah as unbelievable as it sounds some do that. the pychologists (sp) say it's from low self esteem, MY thoughts on the type of women that SEEK relationships with inmates are really not printable.lol...

It would have to be self esteem. I can't think of any logical reason why. But than again, people do strange things.
It's kind of like a guy the picks up a hooker. Why pay for "dirty" sex when you can get it for free from a co-worker.

It may start off as penpals, and turn into something more. People in prison can really manipulate. If you have low self-esteem and are suceptible to some smooth talk...

Watch the ID channel. Real eye opener. If you are a penpal, be careful. They can run a con on anybody.
Prisoners are only pen pals to run a con. When they get out they will be knocking at your door, with their buddies. If their friend gets out before they do, they may show up at your door. You cannot believe anything that they tell you.

You're right about that one. People in prisons are usually there for a good reason. That's a definite in your face red flag.

Some woman wrote to Richard Ramiez the serial killer for quite sometime and then actually married him in the prison even though he will never get out of jail. Yep, there's some nutbags out there.
I think a couple of reasons are that the woman has a 'captive' audience, in more ways than one. She doesn't have to worry about him going out and screwing around on her. The trouble with that thinking is he usually has several of these 'penpals'. Secondly, they (what I like to call) give good attention. Desperate for outside contact he will tell a woman everything she wants to hear and compliment her extensively. She has a false sense of appreciation she doesn't seem to be getting elsewhere.
