You will get replies. I may be paranoid but I definitely don't trust that site anymore. I used it to sell things and the people who wanted to purchase flaked out. I heard that's actually common since it is business, but it made me wary and I felt dumb for having believed 'em. Whatever.
The personals section is also actually quite sketchy. Besides the high flaking possibility, there are all sorts of people roaming CL, and most of them either don't respond after the first message or two, or they do but they're really dumb. I know they say not to give out personal information but that's terrible on this site because there is no true way of tracking somebody outside of their CL messages/emails. Who knows, though. I was just reading about this last night. I know people who did find partners, jobs, and housing on the site but I would not use it again after my experiences.

You'll need more than fifteen minutes to learn how to deal with your anxiety issues. Sexual surrogacy isn't just about sex. These are trained therapists, not prostitutes, who will teach you coping skills.

Zentropa that is an excellent idea, one I hadn't thought of myself. I guess CL just seems so seedy but I did use it to secure this room in a family house which is only 600$ a month, an incredibly cheap amount for the SF area. Also being a male I wouldn't have to worry so much about any funky business...if I was female I would never use CL for anything personal beyond employment reasons. Worst thing that can happen to a guy is that the she turns out to be a he, and he practices Hatian voodoo and enjoys listening to Rick Astley...but other than that...
