Assuming that everything else about him is ideal, yes, I'll overlook this.

Assuming they bring to the table other things that I like.. find attractive.. I wouldn't think much of it.

Heck... If they can manage a low stress lifetime job at $40k with union benefits, they are doing fairly well. My wife made slightly more than than for a long time..... and she is still paying off the college loan for her masters.

I am genuinely curious. This is a question for both men and women.
I dated a woman who worked as a trash collector. I don't care what a person does for a living; it's more about them being a responsible individual and us having common goals and interests. We eventually broke up for other reasons.

yes. This sounds like an okcupid question, by the way. For $40K/year I'd rather just have her stay at home and raise the kids though.. I bet daycare would burn through 20K easy and then there's the housework.. I'd rather have everything look immaculate when I get home from work, always have food to eat sitting in the fridge that I don't have to cook, etc. and have her stay home.

wow at this thread.. I find it shallow yet intriguing that one must look past the profession.

At least they are gainfully employed and a hard worker. A second benefit would be you'll always have a clean toilet!

Yes, this is why I don't work at a full time job now. Daycare for 2 kids would easily be 35-45K a year. Even if I earned 60K a year, most would go to daycare expenses after taxes. I think if more people understood this, they'd know why some choose to become stay at home moms or stay at home dads.

I wouldn't date/marry someone who wouldn't date/marry someone who cleans toilets for a living. If I'm ever single this question will be the entire content of my OLD profile

people just don't only clean toilets, there isn't a profession such as "toilet cleaner", it's usually an adjunct to some other main job such as being a cashier, store clerk etc. I think even store managers sometimes have to clean toilets if their other resources are tied up. I know sometimes pizza drivers have to clean toilets and floors in their stores.

I would not look down upon someone who cleans toilets or think they are beneath me or have a negative opinion of them as people but I wouldn't date or marry them because I am looking for someone ambitious and skilled.

There are people with master's degrees and PhDs that would give anything for a job that paid 40K a year.
