I've been in a coach once. It was a double decker tour bus in Florida at the Kennedy Space Center. I was about 9ish? And I've taken a VIA train before. Those can be very nice.

I think this is one of the older ones.
IMO coaches (first-class) are a better form of travel than airplanes, unless you need speed and long-distance travel.

Most of our trips are either a 1-5 hour drive away or transatlantic. Or it was time sensitive. On a 4 day trip, I'm not spending 12+ hours driving one way. And I like first class for transatlantic, but I don't tend to get it now that I'm not working for an airline. It's so expensive.

Trains work well because you don't have to stay seated and I have long legs. VIA rail is nice but stick to routes staying in Canada. You have to switch to Amtrak in the US and they aren't pleasant.

First class transatlantic flights for one person or a family?

Sadly(or fortunately if you really think about it) it seems like the Chinatown buses are becoming rarer. The feds have been really cracking down on safety violations and shutting them down.
We have Megabus where I live. I've heard they are cheap. They don't have a physical terminal/station(where I live) and you'll be stuck waiting on a street in the middle of the night, in any Maybe okay for college students...not for me though. I was shocked to find this out.

A family when I was still working for an airline (Not every time). Now, not really with the kids. The newer seat configurations (2007 onward) in first class aren't family friendly.

It's nice that the seats lay flat, but you aren't directly beside anyone and it's hard to see what a kid is doing. But business class have the seats beside each other.

Anyway, it's all expensive, and I wouldn't care for short flights, but on the long hauls space makes a big difference.
