I seem to have more experiences with crappy/entitled parents and their bratty children than the opposite, unfortunately. The few good ones I do come in contact with are pure gold.

Disliking ill-mannered children and their parents does not equal having a problem with all moms and children. You must live in a retirement community if you think they can be avoided, though.

I do have a problem with entitlement mentality, though, and sadly I see that in so many parents these days.

Again, presuming to know what others think....

There's no general resentment of children and mothers, and I am far from flaming mad. It's amusing, really.

Again, lets try this again...

The "resentment" sic stems from this notion that mothers and their childrens mentality that the world revolves around them. Your defense and attitide is prime example of it.

You are either intentionally come here and post such things to provoke reactions (which is a form of trolling) or you don't get it at all.

While I am 50...not quite ready for the retirement home...my husband and I just learned how to aviod them over the past few years...we chose restaurants, movies.beaches etc that attract the least kids...now if you are a school teacher or bus driver that would be a problem...but on rare occasions on an airplane I getted seated next to a screaming mimi...I try to think back to how I would feel(helpless)stuck on a plane with an unhappy toddler...put yourself in the mom's place...

I am trying to figure out how our rant about parents who lack common courtesy turned into a hatred of mothers and children? That seems to be grasping at straws.

Let's take it back to the topic we were discussing...the 5K race. First of all, bringing young children to an event where they will get powdered dye thrown in their face is just dumb. Second, getting in front of people who were clearly trying to run the race is just RUDE. Even in the FAQ's, it clearly explained that walkers and people with strollers should be aware that others would be running and to stay to the back and to the right. That's just common courtesy, something that really seems to be lacking today.

I have walked 10K's and a half marathon. I always respected the people who were actually running and stayed out of their way, and stayed to the back and to the right. I don't know why that is so difficult for some people.

It's just a general attitude that I see from so many parents, that their kid is the center of the universe and so much more important than everyone else. I just don't get it.

I suppose I now have to say that this is what I observe from my life experiences, most of which I do NOT share here.
