I was thinking about getting a jeep in a few yrs. I wonder if you can tow a small trailer with one of those guys.

I think I do recall seeing jeeps with towing hitches.....

Yes, a lightweight camper would be fine. Like a popup or an R-pod camper. I like a popup but we are thinking a smaller 5th wheel or travel trailer.

I want to get one of these little guys in a few yrs. It's only 13' but it makes good use of those feet.

You know what I'd like to get? (since my jeep can't pull much lol)

Ever see those military Jeep trailers? I'd like to get a Canadian made M101. I know these will float with 500lbs of cargo in them. I'm not sure if the American ones float, because the box is bolted to the frame. The Canadian ones are welded.....if that even makes a difference.

There are all sorts of cool things you can do with them, but I think I like this reason best, and just might be what you're looking for, Chow:

Packed up.....

Unpacked

Awww, yeah.

They are dandy. Once in a while they come up on surplus. I'd be inclined to build my own. Or look at one of these: Bearcat 8.0 Off-road Tent Camper Overview | Livin' Lite RV

If I were to do a build I'd run 5,200 pound axles and have hubs that match the jeep. Then run same size tires as the jeep.

That Bearcat looks pretty cool, but doesn't seem like it would have much flex before the tires rub.....depending on where you're going, of course.

Good idea with the heavy duty axles. I think those Jeep ones are rated for 3,500.

They remind me of the scamper campers. The r-Pod I'm talking is this bad boy: r-pod Travel Trailers by Forest River

The project I'd like to take on someday would be to restore a camper. Go retro. I've been tempted. It would go down to totally gutted camper, new subfloor, studs, sides, roof, insulation. Then wood grained vinyl flooring, cabinets and furniture and appliances. I haven't talked myself into it, yet.

Those tent trailers look pretty cool. I was kind of looking into those a few yrs back. The problem we have is storing the damn thing. We have a condo with limited parking around here. I'm hoping when we get out of this silly state in a few yrs we can have a house with a little bit of land, even just half an acre would be fine. We can store it easily on the property.

I would suck to have to store it and those costs would be more than I want to budget right now.

I hope you're not thinking of restoring an Airstream (which both of those campers remind me of). While beautiful.....the price for one that's junk hurts my brain. lol
