When I was in the country it was a fifteen minute drive for groceries. Well, most everything I needed. The street I'm in is quiet and in the central part of town. Easy access to everything.

See that's the great thing about America it would seem....
You have so many options and cheaper accommodation so it's easier to move around as you wish.... But here Londons the pinnacle and not much else compares to it .... Especially for city living.
We have great country life but that's not for me ...yet
My sister bought a house in a remote place in the hills -- North San Diego County -- and there were no street lights, city was miles away so no city lights, at night, pitch black and deathly quiet, except for when the packs of coyotes would go on the hunt, baying as they searched for people's pets to gobble up. The packs would trudge through her estate like it was nobody's business. They once attacked one of their own in a dust-up and the next morning she found a dead young coyote in her front yard.
We stayed over many times over the course of several years and yeah, I'd not like that sort of isolation. She realized it wasn't her end of the rainbow after all either and sold it two years ago.
Can you have a gun in the home there in London? Oh wait a minute - someone in another thread said they could tell you're not really from London...
