I'm pretty shy till I get to really know people so I don't know if speeds datings great for me but maybe the fact that it's only a few minutes will loosen me up a little bit.
Especially knowing if it gets a lull in the comversation and awkward that it won't last long lol

I tried it a few years ago with mixed results. Got a couple of dates from it that didn't go anywhere. Some of those 6 minute encounters felt too much like job interviews. There were a couple of really awkward encounters as well.
Do it. If nothing else, you'll get to see women you would otherwise never meet.

That's what I'm hoping that it will get me out of my shell a little..and since I don't approach random women and there are no single women in my circle of friends and I'm not photogenic or attractive enough to get a date with old maybe I'll try one last thing

If you go into it with a defeatist attitude then in all likelihood you won't do well mate
Seriously don't even think of it ( the more you do the more weight and burden you'll put on your shoulders ), just go with the flow when you're there and you'll come across more natural, at ease and the conversations/sparks will run wild I'm sure buddy
