I know of three couples offhand, and all are in their 60s or 70s, so those marriages have lasted!

I should have. No, not really....I'm very happy with my mate. But my HS sweetheart is very successful now. His wife died very young....the first person he dated after me. I thought I was too young to be married at the time.

My parents--Dad was already out of high school. Mom was a Senior in high school and "engaged" to someone else when they met. They've been married for 58 years now.

One of my sisters is married to her high school sweetheart, sort of. They actually started dating on their graduation night. They've been married for 37/38 years.

One of my nieces is married to her high school sweetheart. Both of them are 24. They've been a couple for 9/10 years now. Married for 2? He is an awesome young man. Time will tell, but I suspect they will be fine. They've experienced some very difficult things for such a young couple. My nephew, her younger brother, died unexpectedly after they had been dating for a couple of months. At the tender age of 15 this young man was with my niece and supported her throughout the days that followed. I spoke to his mother about it one time and expressed my amazement at his maturity. She confessed that she questioned him about being there throughout the services. He told her in no uncertain terms that he was going to be there for my niece. He displayed a remarkable maturity. I hope that their history will carry them through difficulties that are part of life. Time will tell.

I know several.

One couple were high school sweethearts...got married in late 70's, and still married. My sister married her college sweet heart in 1980 I think it was. They're still married. My mom was in nursing school when she met my dad. They got married, and my mom had me when she was 21. They were married in 1956, and stayed married until my dad died in 2006. My brother married right out of the Navy when he was 22 or 23 I think. He's 61 and still married to the same woman. My other sister met and married her husband when she was 20-something. She'll be 60 in November. Still married to the same man.

All the people I just listed are family or extended family. I know a whole bunch more.

I didn't realize you asked about college sweethearts. My husband and I met during our sophomore year in college. We've been married for 35 years now--together for 37.
